Staplehurst Music Centre were delighted to host an informal concert at the Woolpack Inn, Yalding. Performers and audience braved the coldest Saturday of the year so far to enjoy the al fresco music, which included guitar, violin, cello, ukulele, drums and piano. Teachers and students of all ages from primary school to more “mature” musicians performed a range of music, from classical to rock via country folk and the New Zealand national anthem. In fact, many of the younger guitar players performed songs that they had written themselves. Hot chocolate, mulled wine, fingerless gloves and an amazing home-made wood burner helped to stave off the bitter winds.
Many thanks to everyone who organised it and performed, with particular thanks to Nick Stephens for putting the whole thing together and to the team at the Woolpack Inn for their wonderful hospitality and beautiful last song of the evening. We’re hoping to put on more concerts in 2022.
